Temps de viatge”

A World of Music is the result of a process of selection and adaptation to the instruments of violin and piano of a wide variety of traditional and popular pieces of different cultures.
Following this musical itinerary we will listen to some representative pieces from Catalonia, the Bask Country, the Balkans, Polonium and other, including some surprises that the performers might offer to their audience.
During the soirée peculiar traits and characteristics of the pieces will be mentioned in order to get closer to the core of these melodies, which have been recovered so as to create an attractive programme, simple and divulgative of the cultural and musical diversity of our society.

El Món Jueu”


After his first work, “Temps de viatge”, Un Món de Músiques followed into the Jewish culture. This spectacle was a request from de The Town Council of Palma to inaugurate the 14. Week European from Jewish's culture on 28 September in the Xesc Forteza's Theatre in Palma.
This culture has made a very important influence over others, we can see that on so much melodies from our tradition. It was in his diaspora when the Jewish people take his music to the others countries, and at the same time, introduce in his repertoire melodies and characteristics from the peoples that they known like: Greece, Turquoise, Italy, Rumanian...these question take to the Jewish music, Ashkenazi or Sephardi, a very especial value independent from the personal preferences.
Into our “Un Món de Músiques i el món jueu”, we play a little selection from these wealth. You'll meet pieces from the tradition, liturgics's songs, Sephardic and Ashkenazi melodies, Klezmer music...making on these way a global and complete vision from the Jewish world.
During the concerts, we explain the origin of the pieces and some characteristic particularity about the style to help the public arrive to the essence of the pieces, creating in these way an special and interesting programme.


JÚLIA ALCARAZ VILAMASANA- Piano

High Degree on piano and Chamber Music, with the highest qualifications, at the Liceu High Conservatory of Music (Barcelona).
She was awarded a scholarship by the Balearic Government.
High Degree on piano by the Rotterdam's Conservatory of Music (Holland).
Advanced pupil of renowned maestros such as: Roberto Bravo, Cecilio Tieles, Evelio Tieles and Michael Davidson (Head of the Piano Department of the Rotterdam's Conservatory). In 1994 she was awarded a A.I.E. (Associació d'Intèrprets I Executats) scholarship to follow studies with Edith Fischer (International Centre of Musical Education of Barcelona and Hindemith Foundation, Switzerland).
She has completed her musical training with renowned pianists such as Josep Mª Colom (Catalonia), Solomon Mikowsky (Manhattan School of Music, New York), Ilze Graubin (Lethonia), P.G. Chornet (Valencia) and A.F. Rosado (Portugal).
Her professional career has led her to offer recitals and concerts in Catalonia, Majorca, Madrid, La Rioja and Holland; she has collaborated with many foundations and institutions such as Juan March Foundation (Madrid), U.I.B. (University of the Balearic Islands), Young Musicians of Palma and Son Servera, Sa Nostra and the Choir of University of the Balearic Islands.
She has been playing four-hands pieces with pianist Cinta Medina (Valencia Conservatory).
She has collaborated in the recording of a CD of traditional music with the Choir of Pollença at A.C.A. Foundation (Búger, Majorca).
Member of the Choir of University of the Balearic Islands.
As a pedagogue she has taught in the following schools and associations: Music School of Gràcia (Barcelona), Musical Studio Eulogio Dávalos (Barcelona) and Musical Association of Prat de Llobregat (Barcelona).
In 2010 began, with the violinist Jordi Garcia i Salas, the project Un Món de Músiques, and they made his first CD “Temps de viatge”.

JORDI GARCIA I SALAS - Violin

Graduate at the High Music Conservatory of Barcelona, Master of Instrumental Pedagogy (U.A.B.) Autonomous University of Barcelona), with final thesis about “Emotional Intelligence and learned of stringed instruments”, published in the virtual magazine Prodiemus.
He has been disciple of renowned violinist such as Xavier Turull, Gerard Claret (ESMUC), Eva Graubin (ESMUC), Corrado Romano (Professor of virtuosity at Geneva), Sergio Prieto (Menuhin Academy, Gstaad, Switzerland), he also been his assistant. Ruggiero Ricci (Mozarteum of Salsburg, Austria) and Vartan Manoogian (U.S.A.). Presently he is extending his musical training with maestro Gérard Poulet (honorary professor at the State High Music Conservatory of Paris and violin teacher of Tokyo Conservatory).
He has offered performances in Spain, Italy, Switzerland, France and Hungary. He has collaborated with several national orchestra such as the Symphonic Orchestra of Vallès, the JONDE (Young National Orchestra of Spain), Chamber Orchestra of Young Musicians of Catalonia or Symphonic Orchestra Julià Carbonell of the Lleida's lands among others.
As a soloist, he has performed in front of the Chamber Orchestra of the Royal Artistic Centre (Barcelona), Medicine's Orchestra of Barcelona, International Course of Vilaseca Orchestra, Chamber Music of the Empordà or Friends of the Classics Orchestra.
It is essential to highlight his performances with maestros such as Evelio Tieles (professor at the Liceu High Music Conservatory of Barcelona) or the already mentioned Sergio Prieto.
He has participated in several musical recordings of choir and pop music with the formations: Whisky'ns, Fang and the Choir of Cerdanyola del Vallès (Barcelona).
Member of the Orfeó Català between 1987 and 1989.
The Cellist and composer Odiló Planàs of Montserrat Abbey has devoted a piece to him inspired in the popular Catalan song “La Dama d'Aragó”.
As a pedagogue, he has taught in diverse music educational centres, such as Professional Conservatory of Manresa, Professional Conservatory of Girona or the Local Music School of Banyoles, where hi was headmaster and founded the Young Musicians Association of the town or the Local Music School of Torredembarra, where he has also been headmaster.
In 2010 began, with the pianist Júlia Alcaraz Vilamasana the project Un Món de Músiques, and they mada his first CD “Temps de viatge”.
